Mengão's U-20 team will have another unprecedented competition ahead starting this Monday (22). The team, which was a semi-finalist in the Brazilian Championship and won the Unifoot Diamante Pro Cup with a 100% success rate and great performances, will compete in the State Championship of the category. The debut will be against Botafogo, at 15 pm, in Gávea. 

In 2022, Celso Silva's team has already played 18 matches, with a positive record. So far, they have 14 wins, two losses, and two draws. After winning the Unifoot title, the players took a break and returned to training in mid-July. In their final training session before tomorrow's match, the coach reinforced that the club's main goal is to be champion.

"My expectations are the best possible. In every championship, Flamengo enters to win, and this one will be no different. Our work involves development in many ways, but the ideal scenario is always to develop through winning. We always prepare them with decisive and classic matches in mind, so we're fully focused on putting Flamengo on top of the podium," he stated.

Right-back Ingrid is one of the standout performers. Since the final stretch of 2021, she has been a part of Mais Querido. She quickly identified herself, demonstrated her motivation for the match, and echoed the coach's words.

"I'm very excited about our debut in the Carioca, especially since it's a derby. I arrived at the end of the U-18 State Championship last year and could already feel the excitement of the competition. We've been working very hard and, without a doubt, we'll play great matches. I guarantee we won't lack drive and determination, because we want to win this title wearing the Sacred Mantle," she emphasized.
