Flamengo holds a selection process with players from partner groups and social projects
Girls selected in the first stage begin the final phase of evaluations under new observation by members of the Technical Committee
By Flamengo Communication - inLast week, Flamengo held a selective training session at CEFAN for athletes from centers that have partnerships with the club and social projects (there are five in total dedicated to women's soccer in Rio de Janeiro alone). They were evaluated by the U-20 coaching staff, comprised of coach Celso Silva, assistant coach Sergio Carnevale, physical trainer André Cavalcanti, and goalkeeping coach Beto Nogueira.
Divided into groups, the girls, born between 2004 and 2009, participated in various activities, worked hard physically and tactically, and had an incredible experience. The initiative, which included candidates from across the country, is part of the youth academy's planning. The idea is to continue the development and selection process in the search for young talent, and therefore, talent acquisition is crucial.
Those who passed the first stage of testing now present themselves for the second phase, where they will undergo new, specific training. Those who pass will permanently join the squad that recently re-formed, aiming for a very important season for the club in the development of the sport.
"Today, in the main team, we have some athletes who have graduated from the youth academy and have played for the Brazilian national team. We want this to be an ongoing process; after all, our motto is 'Flamengo makes stars at home.' So, together with partners from social projects across Brazil, we will seek new stars with the future in mind. We want to develop players like Darlene and Duda here at the club," said Vitor Zanelli, vice president of Women's Football, Youth and Futsal.
Soon, still in 2022, Mais Querido will hold a selection process with registrations open to everyone.
