In the last round of the Brazilian Women's Under-20 Championship, Flamengo thrashed Cefama 7-1, on Wednesday afternoon (26), at the Nhozinho Santos stadium, in São Luís-MA. Gica (2), Pimenta (2), Barraca, Duda Rodrigues and Anna Luiza scored the goals for the red-black team's qualification for the second phase of the national competition.
The game
The Gávea Girls started the match strong and opened the scoring after just four minutes through Gica, after a good play by Duda Rodrigues on the right side of the box. She crossed perfectly for the number 9 to finish into the net: 1-0.
Following the ball out, Mengão threatened again. Pimenta struck a first-time shot from inside the box, and the goalkeeper cleared it for a corner. But soon after, Flamengo doubled their lead! Pimenta controlled the ball in the box, turned, and fired it into the corner, leaving the goalkeeper with no chance: 2-0.
With the greater volume of play, the red-and-black team frequently reached the opponent's box, creating the best opportunities. On the other hand, Cefama barely threatened Laisla's goal. In the 38th minute, Cefama scored the third! Raissa, inside the box, passed to Barraca, who simply finished for the goal: 3-0.
A minute later, another red-and-black goal! Duda Rodrigues hit a beautiful shot from outside the box, and the ball went into the goalkeeper's right corner: 4-0. And there was still time for the fifth goal before halftime! Gica got to the byline, inside the box, and rolled the ball back. Anna Luiza arrived with a first-time shot to bulge the Maranhão net: 5-0.
Just three minutes into the second half, Flamengo was awarded a penalty. Gica stepped up to take the penalty and fired it into the corner, scoring her second goal of the match: 6-0. A few minutes later, goalkeeper Ju Bittencourt conceded a penalty on Joyce. The number 11 herself converted the penalty and reduced the deficit for Cefama: 6-1.
As the second half progressed, the game's intensity dropped slightly. The red-and-black team held on to their large lead. To complete the rout, Pimenta scored another! Barraca delivered a perfect cross for the number 19 to head home, giving the final score: 7-1.
With Fluminense's defeat to Botafogo and Mengão's victory, the Meninas da Gávea secured qualification for the second phase of the Brasileirão Feminino Sub-20.
