It's official: Flamengo is in the final of the Rio U-20 Cup. On Saturday afternoon (17), the team led by Filipe Torres thrashed Carapebus 13-0, securing their fourth consecutive victory in the tournament and will play the final round next week just to fulfill their schedule. The goals were scored by Maria Fernanda (5), Alice, Bia Sales, Cecília, Duda Mattos, Dudinha, Letícia Pinho, Nicoli and Nicolly Manuel. 

The game

Setting a strong and intense pace, Mengão opened the scoring in the fourth minute. After a corner kick, Duda Mattos stepped up and found the back of the net. In the 12th and 16th minutes, top scorer Maria Fernanda scored her first goals, extending the lead to 3-0. 

In the 35th minute, Duda Mattos made a beautiful play and left Dudinha free. The number 8 burst into the box and tapped in with style: 4-0. The fifth goal came from Maria Fernanda, who capitalized on a great cross from Laura Mariah. In stoppage time, the forward added another, and Nicoli chipped the ball over the goalkeeper: 7-0 before halftime. 

The second half remained even, with Mengão scoring through Alice after just two minutes. After that, the team managed the result somewhat and improved significantly with the changes. In the 35th minute, Cecília capitalized on a good aerial play to score the ninth. The tenth came shortly after through Nicolly Manuel. In the 42nd minute, debutant Bia Sales scored a stunning goal that brought tears to the eyes: 11-0. There was still time for Maria Fernanda and Letícia Pinho to close the score: 13-0 and qualification confirmed.

Next appointment

Mengão will play again on Saturday (24), against Santa Cruz, at home, in the last round of the first phase of the Copa Rio Feminina Sub-20.
