The cold night in Porto Alegre was the stage for a memorable chapter of the Brazilian Women's Under-20 Championship this Wednesday (20). In a game valid for the semi-final of the competition, at the Francisco Novelletto Stadium, Flamengo started losing 2-0, reacted after the break, mercilessly thrashed Internacional 5-2 and secured their place in the final for the third consecutive year, this time against São Paulo. The Flamengo goals were scored by Bruna, Campos, Anna Luiza, Sofia and Isabela Nunes.
The game
The advantage from the first leg meant the match started differently than usual. Accustomed to always being the dictator, the Most Beloved... She opted for a counter-attacking strategy that almost resulted in a goal through Campos. In a great individual play, the center forward dribbled past Alemoa and forced Valentina to make a great save. After that, Leane had an opportunity, but made a mistake in her decision-making and the situation changed.
At 35 minutes, after a free kick, Sarah jumped higher than the Flamengo defense and opened the scoring for the home team. The goal left the match open and Internacional began to put a lot of pressure on the team managed by Filipe Torres. The pressure paid off and, at 46 minutes, Alice Helena hit the corner of Condorelli's goal and extended the lead: 2-0. At this point, before halftime, the aggregate score was 4-3.
In the second half, Flamengo was Flamengo. In an overwhelming way. Just the way the Nation likes it. Just two minutes in, Sofia found Bruna with a good pass, who exchanged passes with Campos and reduced the deficit: 2-1. On the kickoff, the opposing goalkeeper made a mistake and Campos, alert, only had to tap the ball into the empty net: 2-2. Anyone who thinks the Flamengo women's team stopped there is mistaken. In the 5th minute, Ana Papel delivered a beautiful three-fingered pass to Anna Luiza. The number 10 controlled the ball, chipped it over the defender and lobbed it over Valentina: 3-2 in one of the fastest comebacks in the history of women's football.
Flamengo's defensive posture left Internacional without a response, and the rest of the exciting match was a consequence of that. In the 24th minute, Anna Luiza took a long-range shot and won a corner. From the corner, Dudinha crossed perfectly, and Sofia – called up to the U-20 National Team hours earlier – only had to head the ball in: 4-2. There was still time for Isabela Nunes to try her luck from outside the area in the 43rd minute, sealing the emphatic scoreline. A well-deserved and symbolic qualification for a team that will go to its third consecutive national final in the category.
