In a game valid for the ninth round of the Women's Rio Cup, Flamengo thrashed Pérolas Negras 5-0 on Wednesday afternoon (19), in Gávea. Barraca, Louvain, Vitória Almeida and Mariana (2) scored for Mengão. It is worth noting that Rubro-Negro played with a reserve team, as the focus is on the debut in the Brasileirão next Monday (24) against São Paulo, in Luso Brasileiro.  

The game
The Meninas da Gávea started the match by pressing their opponents in their own half. And just four minutes in, the pressure paid off, and Flamengo opened the scoring with Barraca. After a free kick from the left, the defender rose in the six-yard box and headed the ball into the net: 1-0. 

With complete control of possession, the red-and-black team frequently attacked and created several opportunities to extend their lead. In the 44th minute, Vitória Almeida received the ball in the box, turned, and hit the crossbar. The first half ended with the Meninas da Gávea dominating the game. 

In the first minute of the second half, Mengão extended their lead. Louvain fired a free kick into the left corner of the goalkeeper's net, but she managed to touch the ball before it went into the net: 2-0. 

In the 17th minute, Flamengo was awarded a penalty. Leidiane was brought down in the box, and the referee pointed to the spot. Vitória Almeida stepped up to take the penalty and scored Flamengo's third goal. 

The Mais Querido scored their fourth goal in the 32nd minute. Mariana received the ball inside the box, beat the goalkeeper, and further extended the red-and-black lead. The fifth came a few minutes later, and it was a stunning goal! Mariana again appeared inside the box and sent a lob. The ball slowly entered the goalkeeper's left corner, giving the final score: 5-0. 

Week's agenda
The Girls from Gávea return to the field next Monday (24) to face São Paulo, at 21:30 pm, at Luso Brasileiro, in the debut of the Women's Brasileirão.
