Flamengo begins its journey in the Carioca Women's Under-20 against Real Heips in Gávea

Semifinalist of the Brazilian Championship, Mengão's U-20 will begin the dispute of another important competition in the season on the afternoon of this Monday (26). In Gávea, Rubro-Negro will face Real Heips, at 14:45 pm, for the opening of the State of the category. FlaTV broadcasts live.

For 2024, the FERJ maintained virtually the same format as the 2023 Copa Rio, with a round-robin format in the first stage. The difference is that the final between the top two teams, previously a single match, will be a two-legged affair. In addition to Real Heips, the Meninas da Gávea will face Americano, Botafogo, Fluminense, and Serrano.

Since the match against São Paulo in July—a quarterfinal of the national tournament—the only change has been in coaching. Last year's Copa Rio U-17 champion and Brazilian runner-up, Filipe Torres, has taken over from Felipe Freitas and will be in charge of the team for the first time.

"We're going to get off to a good start. We respect our opponent and want to put into practice what we've trained during the week. Expectations are high, after all, it's our home debut. I'm happy and motivated by the challenge. Our goal in the competition is the title, and I'm sure we'll represent Flamengo very well," said the coach.
