Flamengo/Marinha and Corinthians face off in the semifinal of the Brazilian Women's Championship

By Mariana Sa - inAll or nothing. It is with this mindset that Flamengo/Marinha will enter the field this Thursday (11), at 20:30 pm, at Parque São Jorge, in São Paulo. Facing Corinthians, the red-blacks know that, despite the advantage of the 2-1 victory in the first leg of the semifinal of the Brazilian Women's Football Championship A-1, the return leg will be extremely important in the fight for the second championship.
The Meninas da Gávea finished the first stage of the Brasileirão with 27 points from 14 games, including eight wins, three draws, and three losses. In the quarterfinals, Flamengo lost to Kindermann 1-0 in Caçador, but won 4-0 at home and advanced. The first leg against Corinthians also ended in a 2-1 victory. Flamengo scored 39 goals and conceded 19.
Dispute system
In the first stage of the competition, the teams face each other in a home-and-away format. Then, the top four clubs from each of the two groups advance to the quarterfinals, semifinals, and final. All matches will be played in home-and-away format. The Brazilian champion also secures a spot in the 2019 Copa Libertadores.

Corinthians reached the semifinals as the last undefeated team in the competition. However, they lost their spot in Gávea to Flamengo. In the Campeonato Paulista, the black and whites reached the final, but lost the first leg away and drew the second leg against Santos.
Retrospect
This will be the fourth meeting between the teams in Brasileirão history. The first two matches took place in the second phase of the tournament in 2016. In the first round, Corinthians won 2-0 at José Liberatti Stadium. At Gávea Stadium, Corinthians won 3-2. Larissa (twice) and Bárbara scored the goals.
The last one was in the first leg of the Brazilian Championship semifinal. With a strong performance in Rio de Janeiro, Flamengo scored through Dany Helena and Flávia, conceding a second-half goal to make it 2-1.
Tickets
Admission to Parque São Jorge will be free. However, by order of the CBF and the home and opposing teams, the fans will be exclusively Corinthians fans.
