Flamengo/Marinha debuts against Santos in the Brazilian Women's Championship

The girls from Gávea are in Group 2 of Série A-1 and begin their campaign on April 25th.

Flamengo/Marinha already has a date to debut in the Brazilian Women's Championship A-1. On April 25th, the Meninas da Gávea will travel to Vila Belmiro for the duel against Santos, at 15 pm. The competition has 16 teams fighting for the title and has the Rubro-Negro in Group 2, along with Vitória (PE), Foz Cataratas (PR), Rio Preto (SP), Portuguesa (SP), Audax (SP) and Ponte Preta (SP), in addition to the Santos team.

In the first stage of the competition, the teams face each other in a home-and-away format. Then, the top four clubs from each group advance to the quarterfinals, semifinals, and final. All matches will be played in home-and-away format.

After winning the Brazilian Championship in 2016, Flamengo/Marinha went in search of the title last year, but ended up falling to Iranduba in the quarterfinals. The Meninas da Gávea are the current champions of the Campeonato Carioca and are fighting for another successful season in women's soccer.
