The red-blacks hold the titles of the last three editions of the competition (2015, 2016 and 2017) and are fighting to continue winning all the Cariocas since the beginning of the partnership between Flamengo and Marinha.

The tournament will be played in four phases and will conclude in November. The first phase will be divided into two groups, with six clubs in Group A and five in Group B. The format will be with teams from the first group facing those from the second in a single round.

The four top-ranked teams in each group advance to the second round. The matches will be single-leg matches, and the home team will be the team with the best record.

Whoever wins earns a spot in the semifinals, which will feature a crossover between the winners of games 1 and 2/3 and 4. The winning clubs will play the final on neutral ground.
