Rubro-negros play their first home match in the Carioca

The red-blacks are coming off a victory in the competition, having beaten Liga Rio das Ostras by WO in the first match of the tournament.

Duque de Caxias won its first two matches in the Carioca Championship. The team won the first match against Jacarepaguá by a 2-0 loss. Then, it defeated Búzios XNUMX-XNUMX at home.
The last meeting between the teams was in the 2017 Campeonato Carioca. In the third round, the red-blacks opened 3-0 at Marrentão and ended up conceding two goals to Duque de Caxias in the final stretch of the duel, but won 3-2. In the penultimate round, the Meninas da Gávea applied a resounding 10-3 in the match that defined the State title.

Dispute system
The tournament will be played in four phases and will conclude in November. The first phase will be divided into two groups, with six clubs in Group A and five in Group B. The format will be with teams from the first group facing those from the second in a single round.
The four top-ranked teams in each group advance to the second round. The matches will be single-leg matches, and the home team will be the team with the best record.
