Devastating! That's how we can describe Flamengo/Marinha's performance at the start of the Brasileirão Women's Championship. In four rounds, they've already scored 16 goals and conceded none, boasting a 100% success rate and leading the league, ahead of Santos, Corinthians, and Internacional. Strong attacking performance and defensive efficiency are hallmarks of the Rubro-Negro women's team at the start of the season. In the last round, they won again: the girls defeated Audax-SP 1-0 at Gávea, with a goal from Raiza, the competition's top scorer with six goals.
"We're on a very good run. We had a very difficult game against Audax, but I'm happy with another goal scored in the competition. Now we have a week off until we face Ponte Preta next Saturday. We're going to work hard to put in another great performance," said the red-and-black striker.
Without conceding a single goal, goalkeeper Kaká stated that the defense's good performance in the Brazilian Championship is due to good training and the concepts applied on the field during matches.
"I see our last victory with a lot of grit and determination. We wanted to win and not concede a goal. There was no lack of desire. We've been working hard this week on defensive safety and ball possession. I'm happy with our performance on the field," said the goalkeeper.
Team commander Ricardo Abrantes analyzed the victory against Audax and predicted a difficult game against Ponte Preta in the next round of the Brasileirão Feminino.
"Our last game against Audax wasn't good. The few chances we had, we didn't convert, which isn't normal, as we've scored a lot of goals in the competition. But even playing poorly, we have to win and get the three points. Now we have to train hard to put in a good game against Ponte Preta," said the Mais Querido coach.
Flamengo/Marinha returns to the field next Saturday (20), at 15 pm, against Ponte Preta, at the Manuel Ferreira Stadium, in Balsamo (SP).
