Flamengo changes leadership in women's football and for the first time has a woman as coach
Rosana Augusto, a former athlete with 4 Olympic Games and 4 World Cups, as well as a stint as coach of the U-20 National Team, takes over the team

Flamengo's women's soccer team has a new manager. Former player Rosana Augusto takes over the team, replacing Maurício Salgado. The new coach had a long career as an athlete, participating in four Olympic Games (silver in 2004 and 2008), four World Cups, and three Pan American Games.
After retiring, Rosana managed Athletico Paranaense and Red Bull Bragantino until being hired by the CBF to manage the Brazilian U-20 team in the final stretch of 2023. As the manager of the yellow team, she won the South American Championship in that category undefeated and competed in the World Cup in Colombia. Rosana will be the first female coach in the history of the Rubro-Negro football team.
"My arrival at Flamengo happened quickly, and I'm very happy to be part of this giant club and lead a highly qualified squad. Within this, we hope to quickly establish an identity and achieve greater things. The first step is to win the Copa Rio, and then, to build confidence in the players to achieve victories and qualify for the Brazilian Championship. When it comes to Flamengo, obviously, the focus is on winning titles," she stated.
Aware of the responsibility and the great challenge he will face, the new coach was direct when commenting on the style of play he intends to implement.
"The fans can expect a team with Flamengo's DNA, which likes to have possession, with a supportive, very aggressive game, understanding the advantages over the opponents and always fighting with great determination to win matches," concluded the new coach, who arrives accompanied by assistant coach Ney Melo.

She's a coach with an impressive track record, with Olympic and World Cup experience. She has a wealth of experience and brings a unique energy to leading our squad.
