Flamengo loses on penalties to São Paulo and ends its participation in the Brazilian Women's Under-20 Championship

In the second leg of the Brazilian Women's Under-20 Championship semi-final, Flamengo lost to São Paulo 2-0 on Thursday afternoon (9), at the Municipal Stadium Mayor Gabriel Marques da Silva, in Santana de Parnaíba. As the Meninas da Gávea had won the first leg 3-1, the decision went to penalties. Tricolor Paulista won 6-5 and secured a place in the final.

The game
São Paulo started the match better and opened the scoring after just five minutes with Emelli: 1-0. In the 15th minute, Duda risked a shot from outside the area and extended the lead for the São Paulo team: 2-0.

The Meninas da Gávea tried to get into the game, but struggled to maintain possession in attack. In the 30th minute, Mariana Fernandes attempted a bicycle kick inside the box, but the ball hit the crossbar. Flamengo nearly scored a stunning goal! The first half ended with a partial victory for São Paulo.

In the second half, São Paulo continued to play more aggressively, while the red-and-black team tried to organize plays to penetrate the Tricolor defense. In the 25th minute, Tuane received the ball with a chance to shoot, but the opposing defense made a last-ditch block.
