After the break for the FIFA Series competition, the Brazilian Women's Championship resumed this Monday (20), with Flamengo being defeated by Bahia 3-1, at the Luso-Brasileiro stadium, for the seventh round of the competition. Núbia, in the added time of the first half, scored the only goal for the Flamengo women. The result represents the first defeat for the red-and-black team in the championship.

The game

The match began with Bahia having more possession of the ball and looking to attack through passing. In Flamengo's first good attack, Laysa advanced at speed down the right, entered the area and shot low, but the goalkeeper made the save.

The better team in the match, Bahia opened the scoring after eight minutes. Gica took a shot, the ball hit the post and rebounded to Cássia, who finished with a low shot into the left corner past Vivi Holzel: 1-0. Trailing, the Flamengo women's team began to pressure the opposition's build-up play, trying to regain possession in the attacking third.

At 35 minutes, Cristiane made a beautiful pass to Laysa, who went one-on-one with Yanne. The Bahia goalkeeper closed the angle well and prevented the equalizer. Then, in stoppage time of the first half, Flamengo leveled the score: Jucinara crossed into the area, Yanne couldn't hold on, and Núbia took advantage to push the ball into the net: 1-1.

After the break, Flamengo started with more intensity and created a great opportunity to turn the game around. Following a pass from Djeni, Fernanda made a dummy run and Cristiane shot first-time, but Yanne made a point-blank save.

Despite Flamengo's good form, Bahia regained the lead in the 18th minute. Ellen, who had just come on, received the ball in the box and chipped it over Vivi Holzel: 2-1. Four minutes later, the Bahia team extended their lead. Wendy attempted a cross, the ball deflected off Layza Cavalcanti and ended up in the net: 3-1.

In the final stretch, coach Celso Silva made changes to the team in search of a comeback, but Flamengo couldn't reverse the score. With this result, the Flamengo women's team suffered their first defeat in the Brazilian Women's Championship.
