In the decision of the Brazilian Women's Under-20 Championship, Flamengo ended up defeated by Botafogo by 1 to 0 on Monday night (8), at Luso-Brasileiro. With the defeat, the Meninas da Gávea were runners-up in the national competition.
The game
The match started off quite tight, with both teams pressing hard and leaving little room for playmaking. Botafogo, which pushed up the pitch to force Flamengo into mistakes, created two dangerous chances in the opening ten minutes. In the 20th minute, the Meninas da Gávea put together a good play. Leane received the ball in midfield, lined up, and entered the box. The forward was blocked as she shot and fell, but the referee allowed play to continue.
In the second half of the first half, the derby was once again a tight affair with intense competition for possession and few offensive plays. In the 44th minute, in one of the few attacking opportunities, Botafogo opened the scoring with Rebeca, who hit a beautiful shot from outside the box to beat goalkeeper Bibi: 1-0. The red-and-blacks went into the break needing to turn the score around.
In the second half, Flamengo tried to attack but struggled to break through the defense's block. In the 16th minute, Kaylane delivered a good pass to Leane, who ran down the field, entered the box, and struck powerfully. The ball hit the crossbar and went out for a goal kick.
Botafogo extended their lead in the 33rd minute with Rhaisa, but VAR reviewed the play and ruled that the ball hit the black-and-white striker's arm. In the final minutes, Flamengo pushed forward in an attempt to equalize, but the derby ended in a victory for the black-and-whites.
