Flamengo hosts Minas Brasília for the first round of the Women's Brasileirão

After a lot of training in recent weeks, it's time to get back on the field! This Sunday afternoon (18), Mengão faces Minas Brasília at 15 pm, in Gávea, in a match valid for the debut of the Brazilian Women's Championship. The game will be broadcast by MyCujoo.

In 2020, coach Celso Silva took over practically midway through the competition. This time, for the first time in his career, he started work from the beginning of the season and knows that performing well is crucial.

"We're going into the most important competition of the year. We had a good preseason, and expectations are high. We're motivated and confident because we've worked hard. We didn't do so well last season, so we want to start differently. We won't lack the drive to put Flamengo in a great position," he analyzed.

This will be the Rubro-Negro's seventh appearance. Having played in the league since 2015, the team won the championship in 2016.

Dispute system

The tournament format remains the same as in 2020. All 16 clubs face each other in a single round, with the top eight advancing. The knockout stage will feature home-and-away matches. A break is scheduled for July due to the Tokyo Olympics, meaning the decisive stage will be moved to August. The grand finale has already been set for September 12th and 26th.
