In a national classic of the 11th round of the Brasileirão Feminino, Flamengo ended up being defeated by São Paulo, in a comeback, by 2 to 1, on Monday night (20), in Cotia-SP. Still in the first half, Glaucia scored the red-black goal. With the defeat, Meninas da Gávea interrupt the series of four consecutive victories in the competition.
The game
Playing away from home, Flamengo started the match attacking São Paulo and created the first good opportunity in the fourth minute. Defender Thais Regina won the battle in the box and took a shot. The ball deflected off the defense and hit the crossbar, almost lobbing goalkeeper Carlinha.
And it didn't take long for Mengão to open the scoring in Cotia with a stunning goal! Glaucia, on the left, beautifully dribbled past the defender, burst into the box, and fired a powerful shot from a tight angle. The ball deflected off São Paulo's defense and into the net: 1-0.
Even with the advantage, the red-and-black team maintained its offensive stance and continued to attack its opponents. In the 19th minute, Duda took a shot from the edge of the box, but the ball went high and out for a goal kick. With greater control of possession and more efficient attacking, the Meninas da Gávea went into halftime with the advantage and playing good football.
Early in the second half, São Paulo leveled the scores after Núbia conceded a penalty on Mariana Santos. Camilinha stepped up to take the penalty and leveled the score. Karol Alves jumped in the right corner and narrowly avoided the goal: 1-1.
Flamengo tried to respond soon after and by details didn't score the second in the 12th minute. Gisseli gave a beautiful through ball to Naná, who came face to face with the goalkeeper, but shot straight at Carlinha.
In the 23rd minute, Djeni delivered a great pass to Cristiane, who struck a first-time shot that skimmed the post. Ten minutes later, São Paulo turned the game around with Ariel, who slotted the ball past the red-and-black goalkeeper to make it 2-1.
With a few changes, coach Maurício Salgado swapped out his team to try and equalize. The Meninas da Gávea tried to put pressure on in the final minutes, but were ultimately defeated. The red-and-black team was unable to replicate their strong first-half performance and remains in sixth place in the national standings.
