Aiming to give its youth athletes more experience, Flamengo confirmed its participation in the 3rd edition of the Unifoot Diamante Pro Cup, organized by the Rio de Janeiro Women's Football Clubs Union project. The competition will continue the preseason training of the team led by Celso Silva, aiming for the Brazilian Under-20 Championship in May.

Rubro-Negro is in Group A of the tournament alongside Guerreiras do Vale, Nova Aliança, Portuguesa, and Real Heips. The top two teams advance to the second phase (a knockout format), and there's still a chance for the third-place team to qualify based on their technical index. The debut is scheduled for March 19th.

"We're looking for alternatives to ensure quality training for our athletes, and we know that competitions are essential to this process. We need to create alternatives to increase the number of matches throughout the year, and strategically, it's also important to arrive at the Brazilian Championship with a good rhythm. Our participation in the Unifoot Cup will be crucial to our planning," stated André Rocha, coordinator of the sport.

Unifoot

The Unifoot (Union of Women's Football Clubs of Rio de Janeiro) project emerged in 2019, following the State Championship, with the goal of further expanding the clubs' calendars. The first edition of the Cup was held in 2020 and the second in 2021. Both were successful, and the same is expected for 2022.
