THE GÁVEA GIRLS ARE IN THE BIG DECISION OF THE BRAZIL LADIES CUP! On Saturday night (12), Mengão beat Ferroviária 1-0 at Fonte Luminosa, with a goal from Jucinara, remained undefeated, closed the group stage in sole leadership and guaranteed a place in the final. The match will be played next Tuesday (15), with an opponent to be defined.
The game
Leading the group, Flamengo came out alert and opened the scoring after just five minutes. After a well-rehearsed corner kick, Jucinara hit a beautiful shot that went into the top corner. Crivelari then came close but couldn't get the shot off. With the advantage, Flamengo held on and went into halftime leading.
The second half started evenly and thoughtfully. In the 14th minute, Cida launched a pass, Gica laid it off, and Crivelari nearly extended the lead with a shot from outside the box. In the 26th minute, Gisseli and Crivelari exchanged passes, but the opposing defense cleared the ball before Gica could arrive. In the 35th minute, Crivelari headed the ball against the post, and the rebound hit the crossbar by Núbia. Without any scares, Mengão controlled the result and secured a place in the Brasil Ladies Cup final.
