IT'S CHAMPION! An unprecedented title for Mengão's trophy cabinet! On Sunday morning (17), the Meninas da Gávea beat Botafogo 2-0 at the Canindé-SP stadium and were crowned champions of the São Paulo Women's Cup. Mariana, the team's top scorer this season, and Pimenta scored the goals that gave the Rubro-Negro the title in the first edition of the tournament.

The game
The derby started off quite heated, with intense competition for possession. Just nine minutes in, Botafogo full-back Kemilly was sent off for a hard foul on Louvain. With an extra player, the Meninas da Gávea pushed forward but struggled to break down the Botafogo defense.

In the final stretch of the first half, Botafogo retreated, while Flamengo valued possession in the attacking half, looking for space in the black-and-white defense. In stoppage time, Gica took advantage of a cross into the box and headed the ball against the crossbar. It was the best chance the red-and-black team created in the first half.

After the break, the Red-Blacks continued exchanging passes in attack. In the 11th minute, Letícia advanced down the left and shot with precision. The black-and-white goalkeeper stretched to make the save. Soon after, Mengão opened the scoring! After a corner kick in the box, Gica headed the ball to Mariana, who headed it in unmarked to give the Red-Blacks a 1-0 lead.

In the final stretch, Botafogo sought an equalizer, but the red-and-black defense held its own and managed to fend off the danger. In stoppage time, Pimenta received the ball on the right and shot toward the goal without a goalkeeper, but the defense managed to clear it.

Mengão then scored the second goal to seal the title. After a free kick from the left side of the box, Pimenta got ahead of his marker and curled a diving header to secure the inaugural Women's Cup title. It's worth noting that this was the first edition of the tournament.
