Flamengo's U-20 women's team debuted with a victory in the State Championship of the category, on Monday afternoon (22), in Gávea. With goals from Mariana Fernandes (2) and Maria Peck, the Girls from Gávea beat Botafogo 3-0, at the José Bastos Padilha stadium.

The team that entered the field was a semi-finalist in the Brazilian Championship and won the Unifoot Diamante Pro Cup with a 100% success rate.

The goals

All three goals came in the first half. Six minutes into the match, Duda Rodrigues was fouled by the goalkeeper in the penalty area, and the referee awarded a penalty. Mariana Fernandes took the shot, displaced the goalkeeper, and converted: 1-0 Mengão. And it was the same duo that scored Flamengo's second goal moments later: Duda passed the ball to MF7, who unleashed a powerful, high cross shot to extend the lead. In the 32nd minute, it was Maria Peck's turn to score with a free kick.

Season review

In 2022, Celso Silva's team has already played 19 matches, including this afternoon's match, and has a record of 15 wins, two losses, and two draws.
