THREE-TIME CHAMPIONS! In the Carioca Women's final, Flamengo beat Fluminense 2-0 this Friday (21), at Luso-Brasileiro, and won its ninth state title in history, the third consecutive. Captain Djeni and Keké (own goal) scored for the Meninas da Gávea, who were crowned Carioca champions undefeated. 

The game

The match began with Flamengo dominating possession and pressing forward, looking to reach the opponent's penalty area. With a well-organized defense, Fluminense gave Flamengo little space to build attacks. In their first good attack, Jucinara received the ball at the edge of the area, found herself one-on-one with the goalkeeper, and shot just wide of the post. The Flamengo women's team spent more time with the ball at their feet, exchanging passes in the attacking midfield. 

When moving into the attacking third, the Flamengo team frequently used forward Duda Rodrigues on the right wing. In the 27th minute, Cristiane made a good run down the right and crossed into the box. Djeni appeared as a surprise element, managed a slight deflection, and the ball went very close to the post. Despite Flamengo's overwhelming dominance, the first half ended with the score unchanged. 

After the break, Flamengo continued their attack, pressuring the Tricolor team in search of a goal. And the pressure paid off! Eight minutes in, Duda Rodrigues made a great play down the right, crossed low into the six-yard box, and Djeni volleyed it into the corner of the net to open the scoring: 1-0.  

Fluminense kicked off, and soon after, the Flamengo women's team almost scored their second goal in the tenth minute. Cristiane broke through the middle, beat her marker, and took a shot from outside the box. The ball went over the crossbar. In the 24th minute, Thaisa picked up the rebound in the area, shot firmly, and Claudia made a great save to prevent the second goal. 

In the final stretch, Flamengo extended their lead with an own goal. After a cross into the box, Keké tried to clear the ball but sent it into his own net: 2-0. In stoppage time, the Flamengo women's team managed the result and left the field with their third consecutive Rio de Janeiro state championship. Now, the Rubro-Negro has a total of 9 state women's championship titles in its history.
