The unprecedented Guanabara Under-17 Cup belongs to Flamengo! On Sunday afternoon (18), in a duel held in Gávea, the Mais Querido defeated Rio de Janeiro 2-0, securing first place in the qualifying phase, guaranteeing the advantage of deciding the semifinal at home and lifting the competition trophy. The winning goals were scored by Kaylane Vieira and Maranhão, both in the second half.

The game

Even with the possibility of only a draw to win the title, Mengão pursued the victory throughout. In the first half, the team created good opportunities and hit the crossbar twice: once through midfielder Myla and the other through Kaylane Vieira. Despite dominating, the Rubro-Negro team was unable to break down Rio de Janeiro's defense and went into the locker room with the score tied at 0-0. 

During the decisive 45 minutes, the match was very tight, but the Meninas da Gávea didn't give up and gave it their all. Just five minutes in, Aline found the net, but the referee flagged for offside. Undeterred, the team opened the scoring in the 19th minute. Ana Donato crossed, the defense deflected, and Kaylane Vieira got a first-time shot, leaving the goalkeeper with no chance. The game was evenly matched after that, and the outcome was decided only in stoppage time. Tamara recovered the ball on the byline and passed it to Bruna. The right-back crossed, and Maranhão had only to finish, run to the hug, and seal the title: 2-0 and a total celebration for the athletes on the field.
