On the afternoon of this Wednesday (26), the Flamengo/Marinha team faced the leader Rio Preto in a match valid for round 9 of the Brazilian Women's Football Championship. Despite the great offensive performance in the first stage, the Meninas da Gávea were defeated by the São Paulo team, with the goal that defined the result coming in the last minute of the match.

In the sweltering heat of Gávea Stadium, coach Ricardo Abrantes's team outperformed their opponents, resulting in the opening of the scoring just seven minutes into the first half. Taking advantage of a cross from Rayane, Juliana, the red-and-black number 7, slotted home a first-time shot with her right foot.

However, 10 minutes later, striker Darlene leveled the score, shooting past goalkeeper Kaka. Flamengo wasn't discouraged and returned to the attack. Then, after a beautiful midfield play, Bárbara found Jane running through the center of the defense. The number 11 finished with precision and put Flamengo/Marinha back in front.

Despite maintaining her strong performance, a moment of inattention saw Darlene once again find herself alone one-on-one with goalkeeper Kaka, who was unable to prevent Rio Preto's second goal. The match remained evenly balanced until the final seconds, when, unluckily, Karen scored an own goal, giving the opposing team the victory.

Flamengo/Marinha returns to the field for the Brasileirão Women's Football Championship on May 2nd, when they face Ponte Preta at Moisés Lucarelli Stadium. The match will kick off at 17 p.m. and will be broadcast on SporTV.
