With goals from Jane and Tânia Maranhão, the red-blacks won 2-0 at the José Bastos Padilha stadium, Gávea, against Ferroviária and guaranteed qualification for the second phase of the competition.
The first half was very evenly matched. Needing a win, both teams sought opportunities and shots, but the defenders were the standouts. For the red-and-black side, goalkeeper Kaká made some great interceptions, and forwards Jane, Pâmela, and Bárbara created the best chances. The score remained 0-0 at halftime.
In the second half, Flamengo came back strong and dominated the action, putting pressure on Ferroviária from the first minute. With several opportunities, it was only a matter of time before the Mais Querido scored their first goal. In the 18th minute, Jane made a solo play, beautifully dribbled past the opposing defender, and hit a great shot, opening the scoring for Mengão.
Continuing with their attacking stance, Flamengo didn't feel the initial pressure from Ferroviária, attacking heavily and trying to extend their lead. In the final minutes, captain and defender Tânia Maranhão scored the second goal and sealed Flamengo/Marinha's 2-0 victory.
