It's champion! The team of Flamengo/Marinha women's soccer team won the unprecedented title of Brazilian champion on Friday night (20). After beating Rio Preto 2-1, the Meninas da Gávea lifted the Caixa Women's Brasileirão trophy and broke a hegemony of São Paulo titles.
The red-and-blacks had lost their first game 1-0 last Tuesday at Los Larios and needed a win to take the title. So, from the start of the game, the Meninas da Gávea pressured their opponents in search of goals.
Just five minutes into the match, Larissa scored Mengão's first goal from the penalty spot. The lead was short-lived, and Rio Preto equalized, also from the penalty spot. Before the end of the first half, Flamengo/Marinha once again took the lead with a goal from Gaby. The advantage gave the team peace of mind, and they managed the score in the second half.
