In the 12th round of the Brasileirão Feminino, Flamengo went to Belo Horizonte and ended up being defeated by Cruzeiro 3-1 on Monday afternoon (22), at Sesc Alterosas. Thaisa scored the only goal for the red-black team in the match. With the defeat, the team led by Luis Andrade ends its ten-match unbeaten streak in the national competition, but remains in second place with 28 points.
The game
Just three minutes into the match, Cruzeiro opened the scoring with Tipa, who took advantage of a rebounded ball in the box and hit it first time to chip it over goalkeeper Karol Alves: 1-0. Little by little, the Meninas da Gávea started to put the ball on the ground and exchange passes in the attacking half.
The Minas Gerais team's lead was short-lived, however, as Mengão equalized in the 17th minute with a stunning goal! After a free kick in the box, the goalkeeper cleared the ball poorly, Duda tried to control it, but ended up setting it up perfectly for Thaisa to take it first time and fire a beautiful shot into the corner, leaving Kemelli with no chance: 1-1.
In the 31st minute, Cruzeiro took the lead again. Carol Baiana was sent forward and slotted past the red-and-black goalkeeper: 2-1. Two minutes later, Agustina saved what would have been Cruzeiro's third goal on the line. The first half ended with the home team ahead.
Flamengo returned for the second half, pressing their opponents in search of another equalizer. Just three minutes in, Duda deflected the ball at the near post, but it narrowly missed going in. In the 15th minute, Flamengo created another excellent opportunity. Darlene crossed the ball, but Kemelli palmed it to Sole Jaimes, who fired a first-time shot against the post.
The Gávea Girls continued to push for the equalizer. In the 27th minute, Jucinara crossed into the box and Rayanne tried a diving header, but the ball went wide of the goalkeeper's left. Two minutes later, Cruzeiro went on the attack and scored the third goal through Byanca Brasil, making it 3-1.
In the closing stages, Flamengo had a good opportunity in the 40th minute. Sole Jaimes headed the ball to Jucinara, who unleashed a powerful shot from the edge of the box, and the ball skimmed the goalkeeper's left post. The game ended in Belo Horizonte and the Meninas da Gávea's ten-game unbeaten streak in the national competition ended.
