Wednesday night (19) was another victory for the Meninas da Gávea. Facing Foz Cataratas/Coritiba at the Pedro Basso stadium, in Foz do Iguaçu, Mais Querido won the fourth game in a row and consolidated itself in the G4. The goal was scored by Carol in the final stage.
The first half was evenly balanced, with chances for both sides. With Pâmela, Bárbara, and Jane attacking, Flamengo/Marinha had the better chances but failed to convert their shots.
In the second half, Flamengo pushed forward and constantly sought a goal. In the 29th minute, the one who opened the scoring and scored the only goal of the match was Carol, a defender for the Mais Querido, with a header.
Shortly after scoring, the red-and-blacks nearly suffered a draw when the referee awarded a penalty to the Curitiba team. However, the penalty was saved by goalkeeper Kaká, securing the victory.
With this result, Flamengo remains close behind the Group 2 leaders and firmly holds third place and is in the top four. In eight rounds, the girls have six wins and two losses.
The Mais Querido's next match will be at home. Returning to the José Bastos Padilha stadium in Gávea, Flamengo/Marinha hosts Rio Preto and will have the chance to close in on the championship lead.
