On Wednesday afternoon (July 29.07), the Flamengo women's soccer team, in partnership with the Brazilian Navy, took to the field once again for the state championship - and won again by a landslide. The girls beat Bangu 12-0. The highlight was the number 9, Daniele, the Vigia, who scored six times.
Flamengo started the match well, with number 10 Maycon scoring on goal. Four minutes into the match, Flamengo opened the scoring with Emilião, who shot into the opposing goalkeeper's right corner. The second goal took just three minutes to arrive. Maycon took a corner kick, and defender Carol headed it in. In the 18th minute, Daniele, known as Vigia, scored her first goal, on a rebound from the Bangu goalkeeper. The striker's second came three minutes later, after dribbling past two defenders. Before the end of the first half, Danizinha and Vigia found the net, and Flamengo went into the break leading 6-0. Six more goals would come in the second half: three from Vigia, one from Pâmela, and two from Gaby.
The match's top scorer, Vigia, expressed surprise at her performance, but highlighted the team's positive result. "I didn't expect to score so many goals, but thank God we had a good game and I managed to score. It was a good result for the team," she said.
Flamengo vice president Walter D'Agostino also commented on the team's performance and the initiative. "Flamengo is once again the protagonist of a major project, which is to consolidate women's soccer. The team's next match will be against Duque de Caxias, on Saturday (01.08), at 10 am, for the third round of the Campeonato Carioca. The match will be at the Mestre Telê Santana stadium, in Duque de Caxias.
