Intensity. Feminine noun. Quality of being intense.
These were the words Rosana Augusto handpicked in her initial contact with the players after being announced by Flamengo. And they sum up the coach's first 72 hours in charge of the team. A whirlwind of emotions and several moments that reflect the personality of someone who has dominated women's soccer since a young age.
The agreement – quickly – was ratified on Tuesday morning (22). In the afternoon, Rosana spoke with the group, led the first activity and left for Maracanã, where she gave an interview before the match against LDU, valid for the CONMEBOL Libertadores. Her smile was her trademark, as well as a lot of knowledge and several statements that conveyed the feeling of motivation.
"It's a pleasure to be here and represent the club. It's a pleasure to wear this jersey. It all happened so quickly, and I can't say no to Flamengo. It was a decision based on the team's potential and everything I believe in. I hope to deliver everything Flamengo deserves," he said in a chat with Daniela Boaventura and Emerson Santos.
The drive from Maracanã to home was already focused on the next day. The theme? The debut. Right off the bat, a decisive Fla-Flu match in the final round of the Copa Rio. There was no better way to start...
On Wednesday (23), the commander arrived at CFZ, met with the coaching staff, and went to the pre-match talk. The words addressed to the athletes were full of confidence. Once again, the intensity was evident throughout the speech. And it was with this spirit that everyone left for Moça Bonita, where the locker room was breathtaking and the field reflected all the ideas presented.
Clearly, the result was encouraging. A 2-1 victory – with goals from Cristiane and Monalisa – and the title. An unforgettable debut: "In the locker room, I asked them to be happy and recapture that joy. We can't lose the essence and joy of being Flamengo. So, I'm very happy. Obviously, all the work was done beforehand, and I'm sure I made my small contribution, but it's the girls who make it happen. Starting with the title already demonstrates what we want, especially in terms of identity. Our goal is to perform better and win more titles," said the coach.
In the post-title more work. On Thursday morning (24), in Gávea, the coach led the activities for the athletes who came on in the second half and did not play. Participating, she demanded delivery. In the afternoon, in the Rogério Steinberg auditorium, the entire team attended a lecture on 'Culture of Excellence' with multi-champion Bernardinho, now head of Sesc RJ Flamengo. An ideal topic to generate more motivation with a focus on the challenges ahead.
After the first 72 hours, we can say that Rosana Augusto—radiant with the welcome and affection she received from the Red-Black Nation—has breathed the Flamengo Regatas Club with great intensity. And her journey is just beginning...
