In a match marked by balance and commitment until the last minute, Flamengo drew 1-1 with Ferroviária on Monday night (11), at the Luso-Brasileiro stadium, for the 10th round of the Brazilian Women's Championship. After falling behind in the second half and losing Vivi Holzel, who was sent off in the final stretch of the match, the Meninas da Gávea showed the power of reaction and snatched the draw in the 45th minute with Kaylane. With all the substitutions made, striker Fernanda took over the Flamengo goal and even made two important saves in stoppage time to guarantee the result.
The game
The match started quite evenly, with both teams trying to control possession. Flamengo's first good chance came in the eighth minute, when Thaisa took a shot from outside the box, forcing Luciana to make a good save in the right corner. Ferroviária pressed high up the pitch and pressured Flamengo's build-up play, making it difficult for Celso Silva's team to string together passes.
The match was marked by intense battles for possession and few clear scoring opportunities. Both teams struggled to penetrate the opposing penalty area and create dangerous scoring chances. In a lackluster first half, Flamengo and Ferroviária went into halftime without finding the net.
Returning for the second half, Flamengo sought to maintain possession in the attacking third and increase their attacking pressure. Ten minutes in, Layza Cavalcanti arrived late in a challenge inside the penalty area and committed a penalty on Dos Santos. Kati took the penalty, shooting into the left corner past Vivi Holzel, opening the scoring for Ferroviária: 1-0.
After conceding the goal, Celso Silva made changes to the team, which began to exchange passes with more quality and gain presence in attack. In the 31st minute, Djeni received the ball at the edge of the area and shot, but Luciana made the save.
In the final minutes, the Flamengo women's team launched an attack in search of an equalizer. Flamengo even had Vivi Holzel sent off, but despite being a player down, they continued to press. In the 45th minute, Djeni took a shot, the ball deflected off the Ferroviária defense and fell to Kaylane, who went one-on-one with the goalkeeper and put the ball in the back of the net to level the score at Luso-Brasileiro.
With Vivi Holzel's expulsion and all substitutions already made, striker Fernanda had to take over in goal. Playing out of position, the Flamengo player performed well in stoppage time, making two important saves to secure a heroic draw for the Flamengo women's team.
