Flamengo/Marinha entered the pitch at the José Bastos Padilha stadium, in Gávea, on Sunday afternoon (19) to face São José in the Brazilian Women's Football Championship. After a hard-fought duel with many chances for the red-blacks, Diany suffered a penalty in the last minute and Larissa converted, guaranteeing the 1-0 victory.
Under the watchful eye of Brazil's national team coach, Emily Lima, Flamengo/Marinha played a tough game against São José in the first half. Despite efforts with Raquel and Emilião on the wings, the Flamengo team struggled to break through the São José defense, which was tightly packed.
The second half saw a shift in the game's landscape. While the Mais Querido (Team Favorite) had a short shot, in the final 45 minutes they created several opportunities, stopping the opposing defenders. Advancing well, Flamengo/Marinha fought until the end to open the scoring.
In the 49th minute, Diany received the ball and quickly entered the box, only to be brought down by the defender in the final play of the game. The 2016 Brasileirão's top scorer, forward Larissa, stepped up and converted a beautiful penalty kick, securing the victory and the Mais Querido's 100% record in the championship.
With the result, Rubro-Negro remains in first place in Group 2 with six points. Flamengo/Marinha's next challenge is away from home. The red-blacks travel to Araraquara and face Ferroviária, at 15:30 pm, on Monday (27), at Fonte Luminosa stadium.
