Lu Meireles is Flamengo/Marinha's new signing for the 2019 season. The forward joins the Red-Blacks for the Brazilian Championship and the Carioca Championship, as well as the World Military Games. The Paraíba native played for Botafogo-PB and made history in her home state before arriving in Rio de Janeiro.

"I've always been a Flamengo fan and saw the club as one of the biggest in the country, a place I aspired to be. I won't lie that I thought it was difficult to get here, but having this opportunity is exciting, a dream come true. For women, making a living from football is always a dream, even more so when you can play for your favorite team. The expectations are the highest. I was able to make history at Botafogo and write new chapters here, a team I love and admire so much... I'm speechless. I'm so happy," said the player.

Lucilene Firmino Meireles, known as Lu, is 31 years old, born on February 5, 1988. She started out playing futsal and beach soccer. At 19, she moved to the field, playing for a team in Guarabira, Paraíba. In 2010, she joined Botafogo da Paraíba, a club where she spent almost ten years and established an unforgettable legacy. It was thanks to her performances there that she was called up to the Brazilian national team for the first time. During those years, the forward had two loan spells, including a recent one to Ferroviária in the last Brazilian Championship.
