Luis Andrade is Flamengo's new women's football coach

Already looking ahead to 2022, where they will compete in the Brazilian Super Cup, the Brasileirão and the Carioca, Flamengo has reached an agreement with Luis Andrade. The Portuguese coach recently signed a contract and will already be with the team in the Brasil Ladies Cup, a competition that starts next Sunday (12), in São Paulo. Celso Silva, who has been in charge of the team from 2020 until now, will remain at the club, but in another role on the coaching staff.
A former player who participated in the 1996 Olympics, Andrade was Benfica's technical coordinator and later took over as coach for the 19/20 and 20/21 seasons. While in charge of Benfica, he won the League Cup and the Super Cup. He also achieved an 86% success rate (30 wins in 35 matches).
"It's an immense honor to join Flamengo. I feel prepared for this challenge, which will be important in my career, and I know the responsibility of representing more than 42 million Flamengo fans around the world. Now it's time to work hard and with great dedication to lead the club to the top. I came to win titles," he said in a brief interview with the official website.
Luis's arrival is further proof of the club's increased investment, which has a strong plan for the sport next year. At Rubro-Negro, he will reunite with attacking midfielder Darlene, who was his athlete in Portugal and is currently one of the club's biggest names.
