Marcos Gaspar talks to FlaTV about his career in women's football
The red-black coach has already had spells with the Brazilian Women's National Team

career start
"Like every boy who dreamed of one day playing soccer, I had that dream too, but my skill didn't allow me to reach professional soccer. So I decided to go to college to study Physical Education and began coaching boys' futsal for Flamengo, beginning my career in 1988, where I led the Flamengo youth indoor soccer team. In 1996, my horizons expanded and so did the size of the field, and then I moved on to field soccer, beginning to work with women."

"That was another dream I was able to achieve. When you start a coaching career, every coach's dream is to make it to the Brazilian national team. It was really cool. I managed the girls for four years, first at the U-17 level and then at the U-20 level, winning several titles, especially the South American Championship in Colombia."
Start of the red-black project for women's football
"When Flamengo had the idea of setting up a women's soccer project, I was very honored to be invited. With all due respect to other clubs, Flamengo is the greatest team in Brazil. The club is currently doing very well, and it's been a great experience for me and the girls."
Most important title in his career
"It was the South American U-20 championship in Colombia. We played the final against Colombia, with almost 30 people in the stadium, a reality that Brazilian football hasn't yet experienced. We haven't yet reached the same level as other international teams."
