Flamengo recently opened the selection process to form its U-18 women's soccer team, aiming to compete in the Brazilian and Carioca Championships. Aiming to win everything it competes in from its first year, the club hired coach Marcos Gaspar, a well-known name in the sport.
Gaspar has been playing women's soccer since 1996, beginning his career at Vasco da Gama as an assistant coach. He also played for the women's U-17 national team, the first in history, the U-20 national team, and the senior team. With the youth team, he participated in the U-17 World Championship in New Zealand, was the South American U-20 champion in 2010, and also participated in the World Cup in Germany. Marcos has gained international experience and other projects, joining Flamengo this year.
"Today I return to the club, having coached futsal and beach soccer many years ago. The sport is growing, and Flamengo is investing. It's a big challenge, but I hope to succeed. This is a winning team, so that's what I've been thinking about. I want big achievements, titles, tournaments, championships. The goal is to win everything," said the coach.
