Best attack, best defense and Pimenta as the top scorer: the Brazilian Women's Under-20 Championship belongs to Mengão!
Check out the numbers from the Girls from Gávea's great campaign in the national conquest
By Flamengo Communication - inLast Thursday (14), Flamengo thrashed Botafogo 7-0 and became champion of the U-20 Women's Brasileirão for the first time. The title crowns the work done since 2019 in the youth categories and further consolidates the club as a great power within the national scenario of the sport.
Furthermore, the victory definitively ends the cycle of the 2003 generation (Ana Laura, Diovanna, Duda Rodrigues, Gica, Laysa, Núbia and Pimenta) and boosts the 2004 generation (Barraca, Isa Cruz, Laisla, Letícia, Maria Peck and Mariana), which still has the Copa São Paulo to compete in - a competition won by Mais Querido last year - now at the end of November and beginning of December.
A deserved winner with a strong performance in the final, the "Mais Querido" had an excellent campaign. In 15 games, the team scored 50 goals and finished as the competition's best attack. The defense conceded 10 goals and conceded the fewest goals. It's worth noting that the "Meninas da Gávea" finished with 11 wins, three losses, and one draw.
Pimenta scored 12 goals and was the tournament's top scorer. Duda Rodrigues scored eight goals and stood out, as did Gica, who scored seven but missed the finals due to injury, and Mariana, the captain, who scored six. The defense kept seven clean sheets, three of which came in the most decisive moments of the championship.
