Mengão thrashes America 4-1 and remains in the lead of the U-17 Women's Rio Cup
Laís, Alice, Emilly and Kaylane Vieira scored the goals in the victory for Mais Querido; Ju Bittencourt saves a penalty and is celebrated by her teammates

In the opening of the second round of the Copa Rio Feminina U-17, Flamengo did its part and remained in the isolated lead of the tournament with 10 points. Faced with intense heat, the Meninas da Gávea thrashed América 4-1, on Saturday afternoon (7), at the Giulite Coutinho Stadium, in Edson Passos. The goals were scored by Laís, Alice, Emilly and Kaylane Vieira.
The game
Even playing away from home, the Mais Querido took the initiative, imposed their pace, and soon opened the scoring. In the 12th minute, in a well-rehearsed play, Laís received the ball from Kaylane Vieira and chipped it over the goalkeeper. Soon after, Alice nearly extended her lead with an individual effort. Their dominance brought the match under complete control, and Filipe Torres' team went into halftime leading 1-0.
In the second half, after Sofia saved a ball on the line, Mengão scored the second goal just three minutes in: Laís delivered a beautiful pass, and Alice made no mistake. In the ninth minute, Laís took a free kick that Emilly headed firmly into the net: 3-0. América pulled one back, but the final stretch was even more special with Kaylane Vieira's stunning goal in the 43rd minute and Ju Bittencourt's excellent penalty save in the 48th. As soon as the referee blew the whistle, the red-and-black team celebrated wildly on the pitch. Besides the rout and the maintained lead, the victory was made even more special by the circumstances of the match.
