Mengão thrashes Fortaleza and advances to the semifinals of the Brazilian Women's Under-20 Championship
Rubro-Negro dominates the duel, wins 4-0 and will face Corinthians in the next phase of the competition

Flamengo is in the semifinals of the Brazilian Women's Under-20 Championship for the second year in a row! On Thursday afternoon (7), at home, the Meninas da Gávea beat Fortaleza 4-0, with goals from Brendha, Sofia, Cerqueira and Carol Martins, and will now face Corinthians with home advantage.
The game
Aware of the situation needed to advance, Flamengo started the match without giving Fortaleza any space and pressing hard, as usual at home. The first good opportunity fell to Leane, who broke through on the right flank and shot wide. Kaylane Vieira then hit the post with a shot.
Superior, Rubro-Negro opened the scoring in the 25th minute. After a cross into the box, Brendha headed the ball into the corner: 1-0. The goal made the team even more comfortable and, in the 34th minute, in another aerial play, the goalscoring defender Sofia took advantage of the rebound in the six-yard box and extended the lead: 2-0. The first half ended like this.
In the second half, Filipe Torres' team continued to impose itself, creating chances through Brendha and Leane. In the 20th minute, the number 11 reached the baseline and passed to Cerqueira, who slotted home: 3-0. A minute later, Alice nearly added a fourth, firing a shot from the edge of the box. In stoppage time, Carol Martins rose above everyone else and sealed the rout: 4-0 and qualification guaranteed.

Mengão returns to the field on Sunday (10) to face Real Heips, at 11 am, for the Carioca Feminino Sub-20.
