This Saturday afternoon (14) was very special for the Gávea Girls of the U-17. At CEFAN, they took no notice of Rio de Janeiro, won 5-0 and secured the unprecedented title of the Rio Women's Cup in the category with one round to spare. The goals were scored by Alice (2), Laís (2) and Isabela Nunes. Due to the rules, the Mais Querido will only lift the trophy next week, in the match against Bangu. 

The game

From the outset, Mengão began setting the pace. Two minutes in, Alice tried a shot from outside the box; the goalkeeper saved, and Laís scored on the rebound: 1-0. Soon after, Laís delivered a perfect pass to Alice, who only had to chip the ball over the opposing goalkeeper: 2-0. Filipe Torres' team continued to press and create chances, and in a beautiful play down the left flank, Alice crossed to Dudinha, and the ball hit the crossbar. In the 44th minute, the third came from our number 9 jersey. Alice sprinted, beat the defender, and scored another. That's how the first half ended: 3-0 Mengão.

At the start of the second half, some changes were made, but the team maintained its attacking essence. In the 23rd minute, Laís took a corner kick to the near post, the ball deflected and landed in the back of the net: 4-0. In stoppage time, Kaylane Vieira dribbled past Rio de Janeiro's defense and provided a beautiful assist from the edge of the box for Isabela Nunes to extend the lead to 5-0. The match remained under control, and after the final whistle, the Meninas da Gávea celebrated wildly on the field.
