There was no better way to start the Rio Women's Under-20 Cup. On Saturday morning (28), Flamengo took no notice of Botafogo, dominated the duel during the 90 minutes and won 5-0, in Gávea, in the opening match of the competition. The red-black goals were scored by Gica, Ana Laura, Mariana Fernandes, Pimenta and Nina Garrit. 

The game

Playing at home, the Meninas da Gávea pressed from the start and created the first opportunity in the fourth minute. Pimenta raced into the box, only to be stopped by the goalkeeper. Mariana Fernandes then hit the crossbar with a beautiful shot from outside the box. Their persistence paid off in the 29th minute. Ana Donato provided a beautiful pass to Ingrid Santos, who crossed the ball, and Gica finished: 1-0. In the 44th minute, Núbia passed to Ana Laura, and the right-back only had to beat Kerolyn and extend the lead before halftime.

In the second half, the scenario remained the same, with the Mais Querido dominating the action. In the ninth minute, Ingrid Santos was brought down, and the referee awarded a penalty. Mariana Fernandes scored the third. In the 19th minute, Cerqueira disarmed her opponent and passed to Pimenta. The forward controlled the ball, dribbled, and fired a powerful shot: 4-0. With the rout built, Celso Silva's team managed the advantage and closed the scoring in stoppage time. In the final play of the match, Yasmin Maciel found Nina Garrit, and the debutant was in tears upon scoring her first goal for the Sacred Mantle: 5-0.
