Playing away from home, Flamengo beat Fluminense 3-1 on Wednesday afternoon (25), at Estádio Marcelo Vieira, in Xerém, for the fourth round of the Brasileirão Feminino Sub-20. Brendha, Anna Luiza and Kaylane Vieira scored for the Meninas da Gávea, who took the lead in Group B, with nine points, with two rounds remaining until the end of the first phase of the competition.

The game

The early stages of the match saw Fluminense with more possession of the ball. Flamengo, on the other hand, when venturing into the attacking third, found it difficult to break through the Fluminense defense, which effectively closed down spaces.

As the minutes ticked by, the Flamengo women's team began to dominate possession, exchanging passes in the attacking midfield in search of an opening to shoot. Fluminense, however, when they tried to attack, were also neutralized by Flamengo's defensive system. As a result, the game had very few shots on goal.

In the final minutes of the first half, Flamengo opened the scoring in Xerém. Anna Luiza was brought down in the area and the referee awarded a penalty. Brendha took the penalty and shot firmly into the left corner past Thaina: 1-0.

In the final minute of stoppage time, Fluminense leveled the score with a beautiful goal from Kaline. The striker took a shot from midfield, the ball went over Condorelli and into the back of the net. The teams went into halftime with the score tied.

At the start of the second half, Flamengo almost scored their second goal. Bruna made a beautiful play down the right flank, nutmegged the defender, and delivered a perfect cross to Brendha, who headed the ball in the six-yard box, but sent it wide.

Very offensive and pressing the opponent, Flamengo regained the lead after six minutes. Fluminense made a poor back pass, Brendha won with speed, dribbled past the defender and the goalkeeper and shot. The Fluminense defender blocked the shot, the ball returned to the number 9, who tried again, being blocked once more by the defense. On the rebound, Leane entered the area dribbling and passed to Anna Luiza to finish, first-time, into the top corner of the goal: 2-1.

Unlike the first half, the teams showed more efficiency in their finishing, forcing the goalkeepers to work. And Flamengo's third goal came in the 21st minute. Yasmim Cardozo made a good play on the right and passed to Kaylane Vieira inside the area. The number 11 got the better of two defenders and shot past the goalkeeper, who still managed to deflect the ball, but couldn't prevent the goal: 3-1.

In the final stretch, the Flamengo women's team created another great chance. Isabela Nunes took a free kick from the right edge of the penalty area, the ball hit the crossbar, bounced on the grass and fell to Sofia who headed it. Thaina palmed it away for a corner, saving the Tricolor team.

After a dominant second half by the Flamengo women's team, the referee blew the final whistle in Xerém, securing an important victory for Flamengo. With this result, the team from Gávea took the lead in Group B with nine points—the same as Fluminense—but with a better goal difference.
