In the first leg of the final of the Brazilian Women's Under-20 Championship, Flamengo beat São Paulo 1-0 on Sunday morning (24), at Arena Inamar, in Diadema (SP). The winning goal for Flamengo was scored by Isabela Nunes, with a beautiful free-kick in the second half. With this result, the Flamengo women's team will play for a draw in the return leg to win the national title in the category.

The game

The match started evenly, with both teams looking to control possession. Flamengo pushed their defensive line forward, making it difficult for São Paulo to build attacks. For much of the first half, few chances were created, and the game was concentrated on physical battles in midfield.

In stoppage time, Flamengo's women's team managed to put the ball in the net through Brendha. However, after a VAR review, the referee ruled Bruna offside at the start of the play and disallowed the goal. Thus, the teams went into halftime with the score at 0-0.

With Leane replacing Ana Papel, Flamengo returned for the second half looking to apply pressure from the opening minutes. The red-and-black team began to have more possession of the ball and frequently occupied the attacking half.

In the 13th minute, Flamengo opened the scoring with a fantastic goal. Just outside the box on the right side, Isabela Nunes perfectly executed a free kick, finding the top corner and giving the Fluminense goalkeeper no chance: 1-0.

Even after taking the lead, Flamengo maintained an offensive posture and continued searching for a second goal. São Paulo tried to respond on counter-attacks, but found it difficult to exploit the flanks due to the solid marking of the Flamengo defense.

In the final minutes, the Flamengo women's team managed their lead with maturity, valuing possession in the attacking half until the final whistle. With the victory, the team coached by Filipe Torres will only need a draw in the return leg, which will be played at the Luso-Brasileiro Stadium.
