On a random afternoon in January 2022, Monalisa Reis Carvalho Belem's journey with Clube de Regatas do Flamengo began. Shy at first, the athlete demonstrated her credentials in training and, right away, earned her place in the starting lineup. Time passed, her shyness was completely forgotten, and three years later, the scene is one of celebration for significant achievements.
In the 5-0 rout over Pérolas Negras last Wednesday (19), Monalisa was the team captain and reached her hundredth game with the Manto Sagrado. A significant milestone that symbolizes a trajectory guided by three fundamental words in our dictionary: race, love and passion.
"Flamengo is a dream come true for me. I learned the true meaning of race, love, and passion the day I first wore this jersey. I'm very happy and grateful to experience the club so intensely, and I hope to win more titles. I want to leave my mark here," she commented, with a smile that speaks for itself.
The 100th appearance comes at a great time in the right-back's life. More mature and fully adapted to Rio de Janeiro, she understands the weight of representing the Red-Black Nation. In fact, she always knew it, handled it with great ease, and today, she passes that on to the younger players on the squad.
"It's a very significant milestone for me. Flamengo has become my home, and any athlete dreams of experiencing things like this at a giant club. I feel extremely proud of everything I've achieved. I arrived here and have always worked hard to achieve my goals. The club demands the best from us, so we have to be prepared. That's what I always tell the girls coming up from the youth academy. I tell them to seize the opportunity, because being at Flamengo is different," she emphasized.
Choosing a memorable match and the most beautiful goal was a relatively straightforward task for someone who left home early with many different goals in the sport. Motivation is part of the story of those who aspire to a specific title for the Mais Querido.
"My most memorable match was the Women's Cup final against Internacional in 2022. We were undefeated champions, and I remember it fondly. Scoring a goal is also easy because it's the same competition, but in different years. It was against the Paraguayan national team in 2023. It's good to talk about it, but I want more. My biggest goal is to be Brazilian champion with Flamengo, and this year we're going for it," she assured.
