In the final of the Carioca Women's Under-18 Championship, Flamengo drew with Fluminense 1-1 on Wednesday afternoon (8), in Laranjeiras. The Rubro-Negro's goal was scored by Pimenta. With the result, the decision went to penalties and the tricolor team won 5-3. The Meninas da Gávea finished the championship in second place.
The game
Flamengo started the match attacking Fluminense, and within just one minute, they nearly opened the scoring. Mariana Fernandes arrived well on the right and crossed into the box, Duda Rodrigues got a good hold on the ball and sent it into the corner. The Tricolor goalkeeper made the save. The derby was shaping up to be quite evenly matched, with both teams looking to attack.
In the 24th minute, Mariana Fernandes broke into the box on the counterattack, burst into the box, and shot, but the ball went over the goal. The Meninas da Gávea were the better team and were putting pressure on the home side, who were cornered in their own half. In the 38th minute, Fluminense opened the scoring with an own goal by Kaylane Júnior: 1-0. Late in the first half, Flamengo managed to equalize the derby through Mariana Fernandes, but the striker was caught in an offside position.
At the start of the second half, Mengão leveled the score. Ingrid passed the ball inside the box to Pimenta, who fired a powerful shot into the goalkeeper's left corner: 1-1. In the 16th minute, Kaylane Júnior played a one-two with Duda, entered the box, but shot wide.
With the majority of possession, the red-and-black team continued to attack in search of a comeback. Despite their efforts, the derby ended in a draw, and the decision went to penalties. Fluminense prevailed, winning 5-3.
