Flamengo loses to Botafogo on penalties and finishes second in the U-20 Women's Rio Cup
The match ended in a 1-1 draw after regulation time. The black and white team won 3-1 on penalties in Gávea.

In the final of the Rio Women's Under-20 Cup, Flamengo drew 1-1 with Botafogo on Sunday morning (26), in Gávea. Pimenta scored a goal that made the derby even. With the draw, the decision went to penalties and the opponent won 3-1. Despite the setback in the penalties, the Meninas da Gávea finished the competition undefeated.
The game
The derby started evenly, with intense competition for possession. Flamengo tried to break out with passing, but Botafogo pressed up, making things difficult. The black and white team even had a clear chance to score in the 14th minute. Goalkeeper Isa Cruz made an excellent save.
In the 20th minute, Louvain took a free kick into the box and Núbia headed it unmarked. The ball grazed the post. It was Flamengo's best chance so far. But it was Botafogo who opened the scoring in the 25th minute, with Duda Basílio dribbling past the goalkeeper and slotting home: 1-0.
After the goal, the Red-Blacks pushed forward in search of an equalizer. In the 29th minute, Laysa made an individual play and shot low from the edge of the box. The goalkeeper jumped to the corner to make the save. In the final stretch, the Meninas da Gávea created numerous opportunities, pressuring Botafogo in their own half. Despite the chances, the first half ended with the Alvinegros ahead.
In the second half, the red-and-black team continued to attack in search of an equalizer, while Botafogo retreated and simply defended. In the 10th minute, after much persistence, Mengão equalized. After a back-and-forth in the box, the ball fell to Pimenta, who finished with the tip of his boot into the goal: 1-1.
The Meninas da Gávea fought for a comeback until the end, but the derby ended in a draw and went to a penalty shootout. Botafogo prevailed in the shootout, winning 3-1. With this result, Flamengo finished as runner-up in the competition.
Now, the red-black team focuses on preparing for the Under-20 Copinha, which will begin in December.
