Flamengo beats São Paulo on penalties and is in the final of the Women's Cup

Heading to the final! In the semifinals of the 2023 São Paulo Women's Cup, Flamengo drew 3-3 with São Paulo in regulation time and won 4-1 on penalties. With the ball in play, Leticia, Ana Donato, and Núbia scored the red-and-black goals. The match was played at the Conde Rodolfo Crespi stadium (Rua Javali).
With the result, Meninas da Gávea qualified for the Copinha final and will face Botafogo, on Sunday (17), at the Canindé-SP stadium.
The game
Flamengo started the match with the majority of possession and looking to attack. Then, in the sixth minute, the Meninas da Gávea opened the scoring! Letícia received the ball on the left, burst into the box, and hit a cross into the back of the net: 1-0.
After the red-and-black goal, São Paulo began to push forward more, maintaining possession in the attacking half. In the 35th minute, São Paulo equalized with Kedima, who headed in a corner kick into the box to make it 1-1. The first half ended in a draw.
After the break, São Paulo continued to exchange passes in the attacking half, hovering around. But it was Mengão who scored the second in the 17th minute. Ana Donato, from the right of the box, took a chance with a shot; the ball deflected off the defense and over the goalkeeper: 2-1.
The game was thrilling! A few minutes later, São Paulo leveled the score again with Ana Júlia, who hit a beautiful shot from the edge of the box: 2-2. The Red-Blacks reacted quickly and scored the third with Núbia, who took advantage of the goalkeeper's rebound to score: 3-2.
In stoppage time, Tricolor equalized once again with Milena, who received a pass, controlled it, and shot it into the goal: 3-3. With the score tied, the dispute for a spot in the final went to penalties.
In the penalty shootout, the Meninas da Gávea were impeccable, winning 4-1, with goalkeeper Isa Cruz making a special save. With this result, the Mais Querido secured a spot in the Copa Feminina final and will face Botafogo.
