Ricardo Abrantes assesses victory and guarantees: "The goal is to win the championship twice"
Flamengo/Marinha beat Ponte Preta in Gávea
By Mariana Sá* - inFlamengo/Marinha returned to victory in the Brazilian Women's Football Championship by defeating Ponte Preta, on Sunday afternoon (2), by 3 to 0. After the match, coach Ricardo Abrantes analyzed the red-black performance, praising the search for this year's title.
"We didn't play that well, but the important thing is that we got the score. We managed to win again, and Flamengo is a very successful team, they're not used to losing. It was the first time we lost two games in a row, and for better or worse, it shook the group and our confidence. Now we're resurfacing and returning to earn respect and return to the top, because our goal is still to win the championship for the second time," commented the coach.
Next Thursday (6), Flamengo returns to the field to face Rio Preto, at the Anísio Haddad stadium, in São José do Rio Preto (SP), at 15:30 pm. The opponents are undefeated in the competition.
"It's a tough match, and we need to try to get a result; it can't be any different. Flamengo is playing for the win, both at home and away. We're behind in the competition, but we beat Rio Preto at the end of last year's Brasileirão, and they hadn't lost in a long time. So we're going in to win. Here at Flamengo, we can't wait for results; we need to create them," Ricardo said.
