On Saturday afternoon (20), Mengão's U-18 team beat Serra Macaense, 2-1, in a duel held at CEFAN. Duda Rodrigues and Duda Basílio scored the team's goals, which took the lead in the group with the result.

The game

The Meninas da Gávea had more possession in the first half, but failed to convert all their dominance into real chances. The only good one came from right-back Ana Laura in the 27th minute, with a shot from outside the box. The opposing goalkeeper struggled to save. In the final stretch, Mariana Fernandes and Naely exchanged passes, but to no avail. The draw prevailed.

In the second half, the team came back pressing hard and creating a lot of chances. After just two minutes, Kaylane Júnior took a shot from outside the box, but the ball went just wide. On the next play, Duda Rodrigues was blocked just before the shot. The better team on the field, Mengão soon scored. In the ninth minute, Duda received a beautiful pass from Mariana Fernandes, dribbled past the defender, and tapped it in with skill: 1-0. With the advantage, the Rubro-Negro kept up the pressure and soon scored the second. Duda Basílio received the ball in midfield, sprinted, and hit a beautiful shot. Serra pulled one back late on, but that didn't faze Sergio Carnevale's team, who earned three points.

Next appointment

On Wednesday (24), Mengão faces CESC Heips, at 15 pm, at CEFAN.
